From our first meeting over coffee, Laura and David struck me as a sweet and quietly creative couple. Our common interest was Comic Con and building costumes – you should see their skills! You would never guess that they had made their Groot costume from scratch because it’s amazing. These two will be handmaking a number of wedding details and I’m excited to see how they turn out. This love of crafting kind of crept its way into our engagement session as Laura had handmade a beautiful sign with their wedding date on it buuuuuut it still needed some finishing touches, so David brought along their “mobile crafting station” in the car. While we waited for Laura to arrive, he put on the finishing touches, scrutinized it, and told me that, “If she’s happy, I’m happy.”
David noticed Laura the very first time he saw her. Flash forward to six years later and they’re loving on their puppy, Stella, and designing their wedding. Stella was pretty excited to spend an evening with her people by the river at Canyon Ski Hill. A thunderstorm threatened to send us away but eventually faded and we had a great evening taking portraits.
Just after the sun had set – it was getting pretty dark – we headed to Bower Ponds and took some amazing photos. I especially love the images shot from above where I stood on the bridge while they snuggled in their canoe. The water was dark but if you look closely, you can see both the clouds reflected in the water and all of the underwater life at the same time.
