Wedding Day Mimosas

Sometimes, when I see an amazing small detail from the wedding day, I just have to share.  In this case, it was Shania and Mark’s wedding day.  The ladies gathered in Shania’s sunlit dining room for hair, makeup, and a little pampering.  Shoes were shed somewhere near the door.  The mood was light-hearted.  Colourful make-up compacts and tubes were spread across the floor and table while the ladies munched on Shania’s mother’s homemade banana bread.  Everyone had this absolutely beautiful, coral-coloured drink in hand.

All I could think was, “So pretty!”

I wear a shocking amount of grey and black but those who know me know that I love colour in unexpected places.

I contacted Shania after the wedding and had to know what was in those drinks.  It turns out they’re your traditional wedding morning mimosa with a grenadine twist.  Did I proceed to make them at home?

Yes.  Yes, I did.  And then I photographed the heck out of them.  According to Shania, all you need is champagne, orange juice, and grenadine.  She told me, “As for amounts, nothing exact.  If you really need to take the edge off, just add more champagne than orange juice.  For my little sisters, I had sparkling juice to go in instead of champagne!”

Feel free to linger on all the colour with me or scroll all the way to the bottom for Shania’s recipe.
