Sonia & Caroline’s Loving E-Session at the University of Alberta

Sonia and Caroline traveled all the way from Hong Kong to celebrate their marriage here in Alberta.  Due to Sonia’s time at the University of Alberta as an exchange student, they chose to have their wedding there – but more on that later.  This is about their engagement session.

These two are wonderfully sweet together and seem to be drawn together as if by magnets.  They found every excuse to hold hands or snuggle as we wandered the university grounds.  They had also requested a view of downtown Edmonton and despite some local wildfire smoke, we found gorgeous views from Strathern Park.  The sun was shining, lighting up the park and cutting through some of the smoke in the background.  The result was soft, summery tones to match the neutral outfits they had chosen.

How special is this?!

Esther & Jason’s Playful E-Session at the Red Deer River

The morning I met with Esther and Jason was warm and a little bit sprinkly.  As a train enthusiast, Jason had a quiet area picked out to take photos near the tracks and lucky for us, a train came by!  We were ready for it.

These two have been together for many years and have decided that next year they’d like to celebrate their relationship with an official wedding ceremony.  They’re completely comfortable together and Jason still keeps Esther laughing constantly.  Jason had proposed in their shared favourite place – the Christmas tree last winter.  The image I get of these two is a cozy life where they find great joy in the little things.  They love deeply, as evidenced by the pendant you can see Jason wearing throughout the session.  Their sweet pup, Patience, had passed away more recently at the age of twelve years.  Jason had a paw shaped pendant made to keep her with him always, so we made a point of photographing it during the session with Esther’s engagement ring.  It was such a lovely way to remember her.

I’m very much looking forward to spending the day with these two next year.  Until then!

Serena & Aaron’s Cozy Wedding Ceremony in Ponoka

It was a sweet and beautiful wedding day for Serena, Aaron, and their daughter, Sophi.  They chose to keep things simple, with a crowd of their closest friends and family, and everyone there was all smiles.  Sophi was very interested in photography and acted as my pint-sized assistant, calling out names for family photos, fluffing her mom’s skirt, and even taking a few shots of her own to remember the day by.  I’m telling you, that girl has potential.

I hope this little family all the best moving forward and lots of blue skies.

All portraits taken at the Baden Powell Adventure Center in Ponoka.

Olivia and Cameron’s Edmonton E-Session at Strathern Park

In just a couple of short weeks, Olivia and Cameron will be tying the knot.  In the meantime, they met up with me at Stathern Park for incredible views of downtown Edmonton, plenty of lush green trees, and more mosquitoes than should fit in one small area.  Thankfully, these two are troopers and put up with all the itchy mosquito bites for some incredible portraits.  It’s hard to catch a photo of these two NOT smiling or laughing, so their wedding day will be full of joyful moments.  I can’t wait!

        Shayane & Tre’s Woodsy E-Session on a Sunny Evening

Summer is truly on a roll.  Engagement sessions are wrapping up in preparation for this year’s weddings still to come.  The gardens are growing well and I’m hauling in zucchini by the armload.  I love this time of year.

This time on the blog, we have Shayane and Tre as well as their adorable daughter.  She’s tiny and spunky and her big brown eyes just light up when she’s happy.

Shayane and Tre knew each other for quite some time as kids before their relationship blossomed into something bigger.  They’re wonderful together and love to make each other laugh.  They also put up with hordes of very large, biting ants to get the right shots, so I’m pretty certain their wedding day will be something special no matter what happens.  They’re tough.

I’m very much looking forward to it.
